Becoming A Singapore Citizen
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in Singapore grants Singapore Citizenship to applicants. Each application made is considered according to the prevailing policies based on the merits of the case. All applications must come with an appointment with ICA.
ICA takes into account factors such as the individual's family ties to Singaporeans, economic contributions, qualifications, age, family profile and length of residency, to assess the applicant's ability to contribute to Singapore and integrate into our society, as well as his or her commitment to sinking roots.
Eligibility to apply for Singapore Citizenship
As a foreigner, you may be eligible to apply for Singapore Citizenship if you:

Have been a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) for at least two years and are aged 21 and above (you can apply together with your spouse and any unmarried children aged below 21, through legal marriage or adoption by you);

Have been a PR for at least two years and have been married to a Singapore citizen for at least two years;

Are an unmarried child aged below 21, through legal marriage or adoption by, a Singapore citizen;
-
Are a PR studying in Singapore; and have been residing in Singapore for more than 3 years (of which, at least one year as a PR); and have passed at least one national exam (i.e. PSLE, GCE ‘N’/‘O’/‘A’ levels), or are in the Integrated Programme (IP);

Are a PR and an Aged Parent of a Singapore Citizen.
Required documents
All necessary documents and supporting documents are to be compiled during application submission to make the process smoother and lessen the chances of rejection. Depending on which category you are in, you may need to submit marriage certificates, passports, PR certificates, and more.

Submit an application

Receive the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter to complete the Singapore Citizenship Journey (SCJ)*

Upon completion of the SCJ, applicants will receive the final approval letter

Register fingerprints and have photo taken (if necessary)

Receive the Singapore pink Identity Card (IC)
* The Singapore Citizenship Journey is a mandatory programme for Singapore Citizenship applicants, aged 16 to 60 years old, who have been granted in-principle approval for Singapore Citizenship.
